Happy Virgo season!

The new moon in Virgo is happening this evening, September 2nd at 7:55pm MDT. As our mutable earth sign, Virgo is analytical, pragmatic, and kind. Virgos see potential in everything and in everyone, which can lead to relentless and unforgiving perfectionism. But I also think of Virgos as inherently hopeful. They see the best we haven’t been yet, and they want to help us get there.

Image ID: This image is an artistic representation of the Virgo zodiac sign. It features a woman with blue skin and long braided hair, set against a pink background. She is positioned in front of a large seashell, reminiscent of the iconic image of Venus. The word "VIRGO" is written above her in bold, orange letters. The design includes red flowers and abstract shapes, giving it a vibrant and modern aesthetic. The woman appears serene, with orange blush on her cheeks, adding a pop of color to her blue skin.

If you know me, you know I get a bit manic in the summer—I make too many plans and cosplay as an extrovert and stay up past my bedtime for months on end. Inevitably, the exhaustion hits me like a freight train every September. Virgo season reminds me to be intentional in my slowdown and recalibration.

The ambitious goals and bold energy of Leo season get action plans now. We’re not going to overhaul everything at once, but we can think about the small steps we can take to create the days we want, which become building blocks for the lives we want. The mundane doesn’t need to be boring. Our routines can be containers that hold us and allow us to bloom.

As a Virgo moon, I love a to-do list, and this new moon in Virgo is a great time to tackle those to-dos. However, it’s also a time to get really clear on what we want and what we’re watering, giving our dreams legs and helping them take their first steps. Sometimes my to-do list can get so cluttered and overwhelming that I can’t bring myself to do anything, and that is not the energy we want to harness right now (or ever, but definitely not now!). I’m thinking of this Virgo new moon as a time for practical magic and decluttered dreams, keeping our big wishes centered as we plot our path there. We can start small. We can create our own magic.
